NASBA

NASBA (Nucleic acid sequence-based amplification) is an isothermal nucleic acid amplification method suited to detection and quantification of genomic, ribosomal or messenger RNA. NASBA reactions produce antisense, single-stranded RNA as the major product.  Potential RNA analytes identified by NASBA include viral load, viable retroviruses, replicating bacteria and disease states such as cancer.

  • Forward and reverse primers which include T7 promoter sequences are required
  • Real time quantitative detection is accomplished fluorimetrically by the inclusion of specific molecular beacon reporter probes
  • Reactions are conducted isothermally at 41ºC, without the aid of thermocyclers.

Lifes Sciences Advanced Technologies provides both liquid and lyophilized reagents for NASBA.
